PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Preparation: Clean area and ceilings before our arrival as this will reduce chances of foreign matter landing on the surface. Customer is responsible for the cost to remove and/ or repair any foreign object or excess dust that lands on the finished surface after the job is completed. Remove all loose items before our arrival. This includes curtains, appliances, accessories or any rugs. If we move or remove any item, it is a courtesy only and any damages are the customer’s responsibility. If we assist you the customer and something is damaged in the move, we are not responsible. If there are any chips you would like repaired, please let us know prior to the service.

Protection from epoxy: To protect the immediate areas we must tape and mask it. Masking tape can possibly peel wallpaper or paint like finish. Please alert us to any areas of concern so we can take extra caution, however any damage caused by masking or removal is solely the customer’s responsibility to repair. We will cover surfaces near and outside of the item(s) to be resurfaced prior to our application to help prevent epoxy from dripping on it. If the plastic is moved for any reason it is the client’s responsibility for any damage to any surface and removal of the epoxy. The plastic must be left in place. The last day we will remove it. You should anticipate paint touch up in the area around the countertops.

Colors, Surface Textures and Finished Product: Colors require the mixing of pigments so we cannot guarantee an absolute perfect match on any color as we all see colors differently. Colors and Textures will vary so samples for colors and surface textures shown and presented before schedule date should only be considered a guide. We strive to stay as close as we can to all samples shown but due to the application process variations in color or textures may occur. If you are not present to approve colors, we are authorized to proceed without delay. Cost to change or reapply colors or change textures due to lack of presence by customers will be a customer expense.

This is a resurfacing restoration of an original surface, not brand new. The finish is as good as the surface underneath on the edge and backsplash. These areas go on thinner and will show the imperfections in the base. If you are having the surface made from MDF:

  1. If the edge is doubled up or added to (making it thicker) the seam must be filled in prior to our arrival. Minimum 1 day before. If the seam is not filled in and completely smooth it will show through the epoxy. Upon our arrival if we decide this has not been done properly we will fill it. This will be an added cost of $40 per hour.
  2. If the edge is not smooth it is the clients responsibility to make sure it is smooth. This can be done with bondo or spackle. If you do not feel comfortable doing this we have a subcontractor that you may hire to do this. Again if the edge is not smooth prior to epoxy it will not be smooth after. Some imperfections are inevitable in the vertical surfaces.

We do not apply this process in a controlled dust and climate environment and there is a possibility there will be foreign matter in the finished cured product. Inspections with only the natural lighting of the refinished area is accepted as quality inspection and no inspections with other lighting such as a flashlight or other lighting is deemed acceptable as part of inspection. Countertop resurfacing is a poured on liquid product that cures to a solid conforming to your existing surface. Because each countertop is individually handcrafted, variations in light, color and texture are an inherent part of the resurfacing process and may not be a perfect match to the presented sample. Imperfections in the original counter and/ or dust particles in the air may show through and most of the time cannot be avoided. Any cost to fix is the sole responsibility of the customer. LBV Countertops are a creative expression, each one is unique. It truly is a piece of art with small imperfection and flaws. White or lighter colors may amber. The product we use has the least possible chance of this, but it may occur over time. The product is heat, scratch and stain resistant, not Proof. Anything can scratch or stain. This product is the best on the market and has the most durability to prevent these events from happening.

Finishes: Satin and Matt finishes are done by hand. They will not be smooth like the clear epoxy finish. Some parts might be more matt than others.

Scratch, Heat Resistant and Care: For up to 30 days the product still is curing. The company we purchase epoxy from claims 7 days however to be safe we give it a full 30 days as there are many factors that determine how fast they cure. Therefore the first 30 days the product is more susceptible to scratches and discoloration due to high heat. The product is heat resistant 170 up to 400 degrees however there still is a small chance of discoloration if a high heat source is left for long periods of time. Also the product is scratch resistant not proof. Anything can scratch. The product is the highest level of heat resistant and scratch resistant on the market. We advise you to use heat at your own risk regardless of what the manufacturer claims. Also be aware heat from a plate or coffee mug may leave rings (during the cure time), therefore be mindful of any heat during the first 30 days. If the instructions and care sheet is not followed any repairs would be the clients responsibility. This is a man made surface. It should last years. Be aware it is possible the light colors may change over time. NOT doing a clear coat helps the light colors stay their original color. However there is a change the color may change as it is epoxy. It is the best product on the market for this however it is possible it could happen.

Second Coat: Once in a while a second coat is needed. The second coat is ultimately determined if needed by La Belle Vernice. If an area is determined to need a second coat the cost is the same whether it is one area, none, or all. It is not recommended over light colors as it will amber over time.

Vertical Areas: This product self levels. Therefore the vertical edges will not be as smooth as the horizontal areas. Removing the backsplash area helps eliminate some of this. However, the edges of the counter still may not be completely smooth. Under the countertop there will be a few drips. We will come back the next day and sand those areas as well as remove plastic and clean up. At times we will hand paint these surfaces.

Plumbing: We are not licensed and insured plumbers. It is recommended that the sink is removed prior to refinishing the countertops. If the sink is attached to the counter (as in it is one continuous piece) you must disconnect all the plumbing as the epoxy will drip down. This is the customer’s responsibility. If the sink is not removed you will be responsible to caulk around it after the application.

Paint and surrounding areas: To protect the immediate area we must

mask it. Masking tape can possibly damage paint or wallpaper when

removed. Please alert us to any areas of concern so we can take extra

precautions. Any damage caused by removal of masking or tape should

be expected and is the customer’s responsibility. Touch ups to the

surrounding painted areas should be expected. Also the clients

responsibility will be to caulk any edges surrounding a sink or backsplash

areas. Silicone caulk must be removed by client prior to application as

epoxy will not adhere to silicone. If it is not removed prior we may add an

additional charge of $50 to remove it.

TEMPERATURE: Room temperature must be between 70-72 degrees. Once poured the temperature should be maintained for another 24 hours to allow for the countertop to cure properly. Failure to do this may make for a “soft countertop and affect the durability. Any cost to re pour the product would then be the client’s responsibility.

Materials: Some fumes can be toxic so we require that anyone concerned with this sensitivity or reactions to solvents or paint like odors remain out of the immediate area during and 24 hours after the resurfacing process or until the odor is dissipated as only a precaution. This includes any animals, reptiles, fish, birds or pets. The company claims to have zero VOC so it is safe.

Scheduling, Access and Cancellations: Our business hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. To get your deposit refunded or if you have schedule changes, they must be received a min of 20 business days or earlier prior to the schedule appointment. Failure to do so will leave a technician idle and your deposit could be forfeited. If we have turned down other appointments a full refund will not be granted. If for some reason a refund due to cancellation is requested and we have already purchased special colors or materials, a full refund will not be honored, and materials purchased and shipping costs will be deducted in full from the deposit. If we are detained by weather, shipping errors, illness, equipment failure or emergency circumstances beyond our control we will notify you as soon as possible for rescheduling. We are not responsible for any losses caused by these delays. Prior to our arrival, please arrange access for the property. Water and electricity are a necessity. Delays caused by lack of access or no utilities present leave a technician idle and will incur a trip charge or your deposit forfeited.
